This is a big two weeks for the Philadelphia Eagles. They play two very winnable games back-to-back against the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns. After these two "easy" games, they will have to play a very tough schedule for the rest of the season. This includes playing the Seattle Seahawks, who right now are my favorites to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. So it is very important for the Eagles to win these next two games to maintain their lead in the division.
Last week, I was impressed with the Dallas Cowboys’ performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cowboys should’ve won that game, but I am glad they didn't. I think the Cowboys will make it more difficult for the Eagles to win the division. We will see.
The NBA Draft is next week. According to ESPN, there are significant rumors that the Sixers might trade Ben Simmons to the Houston Rockets for James Harden. If this actually happens, I will not be happy. I think James Harden is a ball hog and is quite arrogant, but I will cheer for him if he becomes part of the team. We will see what transpires.
In baseball news, the Philadelphia Phillies impressive rookie infielder Alec Bohm took second place in the Rookie of the Year voting for the National League. If there had been a full season, I think he would’ve had a chance to win the award because his offensive numbers were very good. I hope he continues to improve and stays with the Phillies for a while. I think the Phillies are one to two years away from contending, but you can always be optimistic.
I don’t think there is going to be a full regular season next year in baseball. This pandemic seems like it will still be making problems even come next spring. I think there might be 81 or 100 games depending on when they can start. We will see.
The much anticipated, wayyyy later than usual Masters has begun this week in Augusta, Ga. There are very few fans in attendance. The area has gotten a bunch of rain this week from a tropical storm system, so I think this will cause some wide variations in scoring. With the wet ground, the course will play a lot longer than usual, so it will be important for the players to hit a lot of fairways in the first few rounds. The first day is over, but not the first round due to rain and lightning delays. I am surprised how low the scores are for most of the field that finished. More than half the players are under par. Paul Casey is in the lead at 7-under. There are still 40 players who need to finish the first round, so it will likely take until Saturday morning to determine the cut. We will see what happens.
I really hope the current wave of increased COVID cases can be slowed before Thanksgiving, but in any event, stay safe and healthy if you can. We will see!!
