God bless the USA and its people

January 8, 2021

I’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. 2020 was a very hard year for everyone. But I am so thankful that I live in the greatest country in the world, despite some hardships that we are still trying to get past.

The United States of America, despite our political differences, is moving forward to get past the biggest challenge of my lifetime. This great country again is leading the world out of this pandemic. We have already helped develop two vaccines which, as I write this letter, are being distributed to citizens of this great country. There are two additional vaccines on the immediate horizon. Hopefully, by late spring we can start getting back to a new normal life.

Unfortunately there are some people, especially political, who strive to dramatically change this great country. What has always made this country great is the freedom the people have to speak freely and live a life we, as individuals, choose. We are not told what we can do, how much we can earn, who we can love or where we live. I fear some people in this country have forgotten that.

I know we have issues, but we have those issues partly because we are human beings who have our own thoughts or feelings, but also because a very small but powerful group tells us how bad we are. I dare anyone who reads this letter to tell me a better place in the world to live and work. These people tell us we need certain things, but those things only benefit them. Why does most of the world look to the United States to protect them, help them with our money and technology, but at same time say how bad we are? The United States almost singlehandedly saved the world from Germany wanting total world dominance during World War I and II. The United States helped rebuild Europe after World War II and now those same countries call us evil while at the same time holding their hands out for protection (NATO) and monetary aid.

My new year’s wish is for all Americans to realize what we have and cherish this great country rather than trying to change it and sell us out to the whole world. Again, I do understand that we have issues, but like our past, if we talk to each other like equals we can solve anything; but currently that is not happening. Just remember how we pulled together as a unified country after 9/11. We need that same spirit again. Don’t expect that from our politicians, but we as citizens can do it without them.

Please remember how great this country is and then look around the world and see if anything is better. God bless the USA and all its people. Happy New Year!
