No Phillies

April 30, 2021

The NHL season is almost over, and the Philadelphia Flyers have been quite disappointing. They had a very good start and were in first place in their division for the first month or so, and then the rest has been a disaster! They are now hopelessly out of the playoff picture. All the grand expectations at the beginning of the season about making the playoffs has once again not materialized.

I will follow the playoffs regardless and it looks like Toronto has a good shot. They are definitely the underdog, so it will make it interesting even with the Flyers out of the picture.

In my article last week, I forgot to mention that Alex Smith has decided to retire from the Washington Football Team and the NFL. I think this was a great decision by him, because he has nothing else to prove after coming back from that devastating injury from two years ago. It was amazing that he came back at all. I hope he decides to coach at some point soon.

There are only three weeks or so left in the regular season of the NBA. I think the 76ers have a very good chance to win the championship for the first time since 1983. LeBron James and Anthony Davis have not played together in months. This puts the Los Angeles Lakers, who are the defending champions, at a great disadvantage. LeBron and Davis will not be playing at their highest level going into the playoffs this year.

This puts the Eastern Conference up for grabs between the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and 76ers. This will make for some great basketball, hopefully all the way into June.
