Literacy initiative distributes 100K books to Delaware students

July 31, 2021

More than 92,500 books, 500 virtual reading sessions, 1,000 Spanish-title books, and 6,000 My Very Own Library Literacy Kits were distributed to elementary school students in seven Delaware school districts throughout the school year.

The books are gifts from the University of Chicago’s My Very Own Library program, a pre-K to eighth-grade initiative that boosts literacy and fosters a love of reading by helping students build their very own home libraries.

Scholastic Book Fairs, the global children’s publishing, education, and media company, is the exclusive book fair and book supply partner to the University of Chicago’s My Very Own Library. Each student receives 10 books a year.
