lan Floyd Merchant, retired Methodist minister

lan Floyd Merchant, aka Floyd Albert Twilley, 68, died of natural causes Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. Floyd was born and raised in the Salisbury, Md. area and was the eldest son to Ruth Jeanette Twilley and Floyd Albert Twilley Sr.

He is survived by his spouse, John David Merchant; two brothers; five children; and several grandchildren.

Floyd was a retired Methodist pastor who continued to help others by volunteering at the weekly men’s shelter in Salisbury. The greatest compliment Floyd paid me was when he changed his name to Merchant in 2017.

I will always remember him as a friendly, uplifting personality. He will be missed by all the people whose live• he touched, particularly his church family at Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth (MCCR) and especially me, his loving spouse, John David Merchant. May God’s peace and love be felt by all of you.

At a later date a celebration of life will be announced.
