In late November, Michael and Stephan Maybroda announced on the Facebook page of their business, Stephan & Co., that their 11th Annual Holiday Donation Box Contest had begun.
The Stephan & Co. team initiates the competition by decorating boxes with a holiday theme. Customers and visitors to the salon can then vote for their favorite box by placing a donation in the box they like best. When the contest ends Dec. 31, the winning box will be announced, and 100% of the donations will go to charity.
Beebe Medical Foundation officials were thrilled to learn that this year, the donations would go to support Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing.
Michael and Stephen’s Facebook post explained, “As we all know, it's been an intense and difficult couple of years for medical professionals in our area and all around the world. We have also learned that we need more nurses in our area. We decided to do our part to help with the education of these future heroes. Stephan & Co. will begin the contest with a $500 donation.”
Stephan and Michael have long been ardent supporters of Beebe Healthcare, but the choice to select the School of Nursing this year was based on a personal experience.
“During my recent emergency appendectomy, the nursing staff was incredible,” said Stephan. “Without exception, all the nurses were compassionate and professional, even while working shift after shift. I saw their resilience, and I felt how committed they were to their profession. I truly received excellent care and I am grateful.”
Michael agreed, saying, “I couldn’t agree more – we are both very grateful!”
