‘Riley’s Magic Freckles’ author to sign books May 29

Nine-year-old author Riley Musselman will sign copies of her book “Riley’s Magic Freckles” from 12 to 2 p.m., Sunday, May 29, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

Grandmother and granddaughter Paula and Riley Musselman teamed up to write this story about what happens after Riley's freckles fly away while she is swinging at the park. Riley and her dog go on a journey around the park to recover her freckles, which are disguised as spots on a ladybug, watermelon seeds, sprinkles on ice cream and more.

Riley lives in York, Pa., but frequently visits Rehoboth Beach. The idea for “Riley’s Magic Freckles” was born during one visit when Riley was 7 years old and her grandmother noticed how each day, the summer sun brought more freckles to Riley’s cheeks – just like magic.

Riley wondered what it would be like if her freckles really were magic, and she and Paula talked about all the things her freckles could become … and there on the beach, “Riley’s Magic Freckles” was created.
