For the fourth time this summer, President Joe Biden will be visiting his North Shores beach home. According to the Daily Guidance and Press Schedule from the White House issued Saturday, Aug. 6, the president will leave Washington, D.C., at 6:55 a.m. and is expected to arrive in Rehoboth by 7:50 a.m. Dr. Jill Biden is already in town.

The guidance doesn’t say when Biden will be leaving; it just says he’ll be coming to town. The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a restricted flight area notice that lasts until 10 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7.

A Daily Guidance and Press Schedule issued Friday, Aug. 5, said the Bidens will travel to Eastern Kentucky where they will join Gov. Andy Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear to visit families affected by the devastation from recent flooding and survey recovery efforts at a local Federal Emergency Management Agency State Disaster Recovery Center.

A reminder of security measures taken when Biden is in town:

  • Gordons Pond users should expect restrictions. The park’s parking lot is just around the corner from Biden’s home and is used as a landing site for Marine Force One.
  • The FAA’s temporary flight restrictions limit use of the airspace from Dover south to Ocean City, Md.; and west to the Maryland border.
  • The Coast Guard establishes security zones in the ocean area immediately in front of North Shores beach and in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
  • If there’s a perceived emergency, the Bidens could be rushed to the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Hall on Rehoboth Avenue. That’s what happened when the Bidens were in town earlier this month after a plane accidentally entered the no fly zone.

Since Joe was elected president, the Bidens have attended church, walked on the beach and gone for a few bike rides while in Rehoboth Beach. If they do so this trip, send photos to reporter Chris Flood at
