‘Village of Arden’ screening set at art theater Sept. 12

September 1, 2022

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society, in partnership with WHYY, will present a special screening of the “The Village of Arden” episode “Movers & Makers” at 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, at the Cinema Art Theater near Lewes.

This free event is open to all members and general audiences, with much thanks for the support by Ida and Jeff Rowe.

Award-winning WHYY Producer Karen Smyles will be on hand to lead a post-screening discussion with several Arden residents featured in the episode. In addition to the post-program, participants will be able to view archival materials from this historic artist village.

“The Village of Arden and its residents are delightful! This hub for the arts is like a place from another era, and I enjoyed every minute I was there,” said Smyles.

The Village of Arden was founded in 1900 by sculptor Frank Stephens and architect Will Price as a single-tax community nestled northeast of Wilmington, just below the Pennsylvania state line. Stephens and Price created an arts and crafts colony that included people from all walks of life. In this episode, viewers will experience the early architecture, meet the talented artists and performers of today, and discover why so many people flock there every year to attend the Arden Fair.

To reserve seats, email info@rehobothfilm.com and include a name, phone number and how many will be attending.
