Annual New Year’s Day event raises funds for Dewey Business Partnership

Hundreds of dunkers and supporters converged on the oceanside of Dagsworthy Street to participate in the 2023 Dewey Dunk Jan. 1.
While sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted those who donned their bathing suits and jumped into the Atlantic, the water temperature was a chilly 43 degrees.

The air temperature was warm, but the ocean was a chilly 43 degrees for the New Year’s Day Dewey Dunk.

Members of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company personal watercraft and water rescue teams enter the ocean to keep an eye on dunkers while other members patrolled onshore with buoys and rescue ropes.
