DAR seeks Georgetown Hometown Heroes nominees
The Maj. Nathaniel Mitchell Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is seeking nominees for its Hometown Heroes Banner Program in Georgetown.
The living tribute recognizes and honors military personnel who are currently serving or veterans who have served in the United States armed forces. To qualify, currently enlisted personnel and living or deceased veterans must have or have had a connection to Georgetown at some point in their life. They may have attended school or served in Georgetown, or be related to someone in Georgetown.
The Town of Georgetown has purchased 15 additional brackets, allowing the chapter to expand the program.
Also qualifying are those honored on war memorials, and veterans recommended by local VFW and American Legion posts.
The banners will be 18-by-45-inch heavy Sunbrella material, printed on both sides, and will display the service person’s photograph, including their full name, military branch and era of service.
“We are so thrilled to be able to expand our banner program. The Town of Georgetown is so generous to allow us this opportunity,” said Adrienne Donaway, MNM NSDAR chapter vice regent, Hometown Heroes Committee chair, and national defense chair. Applications are available at Georgetown Town Hall and online at darmitchell.org. Donations are being accepted via PayPal, majornathanielmitchell@gmail.com, or can be mailed to 24359 Gravel Hill Road, Georgetown, DE 19947.
