SoDel Concepts announced Feb. 27 that it would be opening a new Surf Bagel at Taormina Square in Long Neck sometime this summer.

“We are stoked to bring freshly made, New York style bagels to Long Neck and join this awesome community,” reads the announcement on the Surf Bagel Facebook page. The announcement doesn’t include a specific unit within the shopping center, but there’s only one available – in the space between Yellowfins Bar & Grill and Vogue on 24 Salon & Med Spa that used to be Taste of the South Bistro, which closed in October.

This will be the fourth Surf Bagel location, which opened near Five Points outside Lewes in 2004. SoDel Concepts, a Rehoboth Beach-based hospitality company with 18 business operations under its umbrella, acquired Surf Bagel from brothers Dave and Tom Vitella in 2021. Prior to finding success with a permanent second location at Midway in 2017, the bagel shop briefly had a place at the Atlantic Sands in Rehoboth Beach and also tried to offer dinner. SoDel opened a third location on NE Front Street in Milford in December.

Taormina Square, a 32,000-square-foot shopping center on the southwest corner of the intersection at Route 24 and Indian Mission Road, is fairly new. Silicato Development, which was based in Milford for decades but is now based out of the shopping center, opened the 32,000-square-foot, multi-unit project in late 2017.
