In a world of magic, dragons, half-demons and spirit familiars, Josie is a young girl of noble birth from the mainland who’s ready for adventure, passion and excitement. However, her parents are eager for her to wed a man she’s never met to increase the family’s status. While out shopping with her mother, Josie slips away and finds escape on a ship owned by the mysterious and powerful Malachi, sailing directly into the adventure and excitement she seeks.

A sailing-adventure picture book, “Bark Ship Bonnie” tells a story about a strong, resourceful girl, her loyal dog and their boat, beautifully illustrated by Fiona Lee. The book also includes a ship’s slang glossary and diagram of a real bark ship.
Lawrence Dupkin will sign his new book, “Jeb on the Farm!” from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19.
The Hornswaggle family farm is a place where kids can be kids. Readers can join Jebediah and his sister Missy for a day full of mischief, Momma’s biscuits and helping Daddy with chores on the farm.
Melissa Adelman will sign copies of her new book, “What the Neighbors Saw,” from 2 to 4 p.m, Aug. 19.
A chilling story of murder and intrigue set in a well-to-do Washington, D.C., suburb shows the darkest acts sometimes occur in the most beautiful houses. Sam is on the cusp of making partner at his law firm, Alexis is pregnant with their second child, and their glamorous neighbors welcome the couple with open arms. But the neighborhood’s picture-perfect image is shattered when their neighbor Teddy – a handsome, successful father of three – is found dead on the steep banks of the Potomac River. The community is shaken, and as the police struggle to identify and apprehend the killer, tension in the neighborhood mounts and long-buried secrets start to emerge.
All of these signings are free and registration is not required.
