Ashley Furio 5K a great success

November 14, 2023

Many thanks to everyone who made the eighth annual Ashley Furio 5K such a great success. First and foremost, huge thanks to Crooked Hammock Brewery/La Vida Hospitality Group for being the event’s presenting sponsor and home. Special thanks to the amazing Crooked Hammock staff for rising so early in the morning to prepare breakfast and to provide such gracious service to the more than 300 runners, their families and friends, and the volunteers who made the event possible. Many thanks, too, to Children’s Beach House for its support of the event and for providing such a suitable home for a memorial to our amazing daughter through the work of the Margaret H. Rollins Child Development Center.

The financial success of the event was ensured through the support of the 5K’s generous sponsors: Mark Penuel/State Farm, Tidemark Federal Credit Union, Jane Martinko, Ellison M. Carey, Expert Wire, Beebe Healthcare, the Lee Ann Wilkinson Group/Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices/PenFed Realty, Nickle Electrical Companies, the Link Family, Sysco, Beacon Hospitality, Diamond State Meats, Farm Art, Fitness for You, Elite Lifestyle Initiatives, and Pat and John Tosi in memory of Marion T. Pucci.

And, of course, thank you to all the runners, crawlers, families, friends and volunteers who made the event, well, an event. When we envisioned this memorial to Ashley, we wanted something that was active like her, that brought people together like she did. And the large number of people who join us every year make that vision a reality. Their generosity also makes the good work being done at Children’s Beach House in Ashley’s memory a reality too. We’re so deeply grateful.

We want to see this event get bigger and bigger, to draw more people together, just as Ashley would have liked, and to help more people, just as Ashley would have done. So, please join us next year. And when you see one of our sponsors or see someone wearing one of the race shirts, please thank them. They are carrying forward Ashley’s legacy and making children’s lives better every day.
