We must protect children from sex trafficking

January 23, 2024

I am 100% in agreement with the letter that was published Jan. 19, “Human trafficking needs to be addressed,” by Sheila Setzer. I have attended several seminars and a virtual meeting addressing this problem. Organizations are coming forward with the topic, and that is a good thing.

The only issue I have is they only seem to have resources available for teens and above. I would like to see a specific focus on children. How are we protecting them? They can’t make phone calls or find the resources to help. Who is following and arresting pedophiles who are perpetrating these acts? They should be revealed to the public and prosecuted – not protected by calling them “minor-attracted adults” and downgrading the sentencing parameters.

This entire process should be on the news and in the media, and the prosecutions should be publicized. Pornography is destroying our children and adults. Why is it so accessible on the web – to children as well as adults? It’s against the law. We do still have laws, don’t we?
