CAMP Rehoboth is partnering with the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, Planned Parenthood of Delaware and Beebe Healthcare for Love Yourself, offering no-cost breast/chest exams, among other screenings, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. No registration is required.

“Breast/chest exams are one of the most important early breast cancer screenings to improve the chances of finding breast cancer early. The earlier breast cancer is found, the easier it is to treat,” said Adriana Viveros-Sosa, program manager for women’s health screening at DBCC. “DBCC patient navigators can also help you schedule a mammogram after your exam.”

This partnership and event follows the DBCC series of events called Love Your Breasts. It was renamed to be more inclusive of transgender community members, who may experience body dysmorphia related to their breasts/chest.

“DBCC and Planned Parenthood are established and reputable allies in serving LGBTQ+ folks, and to see their partnering with CAMP Rehoboth to create accessible, safer space for queer folks to tap preventative medical services is simply beautiful,” said the Rev. Karla Fleshman, LCSW. Fleshman is the owner and clinical director of Transitions Delaware, and a breast cancer survivor.

CAMP Rehoboth Community Center is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment for all participants. Bilingual assistance in Spanish and Haitian Creole will be available at the event. The center’s facilities are also accessible for community members with disabilities, and the Beebe Mobile Heath Unit will have a lift available.
