Roundabouts work all over the world

March 5, 2024

Roundabouts do work. They should not be confused with traffic circles, which are bad – lots of backups and accidents. Circles are generally close to larger cities and large towns like where I lived Somerville N.J., where the circle was a disaster.

Travel on Hollymount Road. There is a large housing development. There is also a roundabout right there with no problems at all. No backups or accidents that I have witnessed.

Also, by the new Beebe Healthcare hospital, there’s a roundabout. Again, no problems.

Going into Rehoboth Beach there’s a roundabout with a lighthouse on it – no problems.

Large traffic from the Cape May-Lewes Ferry on Kings Highway will go halfway around roundabouts and out the other side with same going other way with no problems.

Travel all through Europe. There are hundreds of roundabouts. No problems all the way to Austria.

Kings Highway is still a rural area, even with all the building.

Last, but not least, I have a friend in Florida. All the gated communities. To get around, what do you travel on? Yes, roundabouts. I have never had a problem there.

So, yes, I believe roundabouts work. I just showed you proof. What's bad, in my opinion, are four-way stops.
