Mead, Metal and Viking Festival pillages in Milton

June 15, 2024

The theme of the fifth annual Mead, Metal and Viking Festival at Brimming Horn Meadery in Milton June 8 was Party like It's 793, and the crowd certainly lived up to that ideal.

The three-day festival was a celebration of the Viking aesthetic, as a good many people dressed in traditional Norse garb and horns were raised, not just in the glasses serving up Brimming Horn meads or on the costumes, but also in the music as well. Acts alternated between traditional heavy metal and its Viking-influenced subgenre, folk metal, which incorporates traditional Scandinavian instruments. The festival also featured booths with both Viking-themed crafts and performers.
