American Legion Post 28 celebrates veterans

American Legion Post 28 in Oak Orchard held its annual Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11, when attendees honored the men and women who have served in the armed forces.

Marine Corps veteran Sean Jones sang a powerful version of the national anthem. Post 28 Commander Joe Brown read a tribute to veterans.

Karen Knight of Heartsongs Ministries performed a musical tribute to the armed forces while a video honored all who have fought in all wars and conflicts. She also sang a salute to all military branches.

The POW/MIA table ceremony was performed by Past Post Commanders Jim Lafferty and Lee Glasco.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
