CAMP Rehoboth Chorus presents ‘On Broadway’

February 24, 2025

Celebrating the start of their 15th anniversary season, the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus presented “On Broadway” before sold-out crowds Feb. 14-16 at Epworth United Methodist Church. The event paid tribute to some of the most iconic and memorable musicals from the stage and cinema.

The musical performance included 92 singers, six instrumentalists and four technicians. All three concerts were sold out almost two weeks in advance.

The musical began with “Willkommen” from “Cabaret,” featuring the lyrics of Fred Ebb and music of John Kander. The role of the emcee was played by Travis Stevens. “Magic to Do” from “Pippin” was next on the lineup. The musical “Hair” contributed “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In.”

The Alliance singers, sang “Somewhere/Tonight” from “West Side Story.”

Ben Revis sang the solo “Comedy Tonight” from “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.”

“Ya Got Trouble” from “The Music Man” was sung by Bo Gordy-Stith.

A tribute to ABBA featuring a medley from the show “Mamma Mia” finished the first half of the production, with soloist Allison Hemingway, Gwendolyn Miller, Gwen Osborne and Sally Allen.

After intermission, “Ragtime” brought the Alliance Singers to the stage.

Next the “Jersey Boys” medley proved the audience couldn’t take their eyes off the choir, who presented a medley of Four Seasons hits.

Choir members Kathleen Taylor, Sue Pound, Bo Gordy-Stith, Vicki Gordy-Stith, Ron Parks, Pam Malsch and Jeanne Ann McManus sang solos from “Les Miserables” and brought the audience to its feet.

Sally Gilles was the soloist on the seductive hit “Hello, Dolly!”

A standing ovation followed the medley from “The Phantom of the Opera,” and the production concluded with rousing applause for “The Impossible Dream” from “Man of La Mancha.”

Doug Yetter has been directing the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus since its fourth season, and it’s just the second time having a Broadway theme.

“I feel this is represents a fair cross section of music which offers something for everyone,” he said.
