Delaware Seafood Festival set for Sept. 20 in Rehoboth

May 24, 2025

The Delaware Seafood Festival will be held Friday, Sept. 20, at Schellville in Rehoboth Beach. In addition to providing a day of local flavor and family fun, the event also serves as a fundraiser for two area nonprofits, the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays and the Delaware Restaurant Foundation.

Organized by The Stevenson Foundation, the festival features dozens of food vendors, each showcasing their best seafood dishes and coastal creations. Attendees can expect everything from crab cakes and shrimp tacos to lobster rolls and oyster shooters. Among the featured items is the official dish of the Delaware Seafood Festival, a crab cake over a bed of scrapple, topped with a lemon butter cream sauce, made entirely with Delaware-sourced ingredients.

In addition to food, the festival offers live music from Lower Case Blues and Kristin & The Noise, family-friendly activities, cooking demonstrations, craft vendors, a beer and seafood pairing, and contests including a shrimp-eating competition, Delaware’s Oyster Shucking finals and the fan favorite 5-pound crab pretzel-eating competition.

“Food has always brought people together, and this festival is the perfect example of that,” said Ryan Stevenson, The Stevenson Foundation co-founder and event organizer. “We’re showcasing the best of Delaware’s culinary talent while making a real impact on our community, both environmentally and economically.”

The festival will also include raffle baskets and a Boat of Booze raffle, an actual boat filled with liquor and swag.
