Cape Henlopen Elks continue projects supporting veterans

May 15, 2025

Continuing its support for those who served this country in military service, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 donated time and funds to local veterans organizations in March and April.

Nearly $700 worth of personal hygiene items were purchased and delivered to the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, currently housing 63 men and four women. The Elks fulfilled a request to purchase body wash, deodorants and scented oil refills for diffusers previously provided by the lodge.

The committee also facilitated building a wheelchair ramp to help a disabled couple at their residence. Delaware Roofing and Gutter Pros assisted with the project, allowing the couple to enter and exit their home safely.

A $1,000 donation was sent to Operations SEAs the Day, a beach-week event for our veterans who are recovering from injuries sustained while serving.

The Elks donated $2,000 for the Gold Star Family Monument in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. The monument will serve as a lasting tribute to Gold Star Families, honoring their sacrifice and the memory of their loved ones who gave their lives in service to the country.
