Children’s Beach House names new controller
Children’s Beach House announced Tara Wisely of Lewes has joined its finance department in the new position of controller.
As CBH programs expand to include after-school care and summer day camps in Milton, Wisely will work with CFO Patrice Tosi to oversee financial processes so program staff can focus on delivery of services, and the executive team can focus on stewardship and strategy.
An English major in college, Wisely was surprised to discover a talent for accounting. “I realized that numbers tell an organization’s story, and that story matters to the people it serves and the people who support it. There are so many more creative aspects to accounting than I originally thought,” said Wisely. She began as a part-time bookkeeper helping entrepreneurial friends. As she rubbed shoulders with other accountants and CPAs, they encouraged her to get a degree in business and accounting.
Her career has been concentrated in business and real estate. “Tax accounting is not my thing,” said Wisely. As her own children grew up and left home, she felt a calling to invest her time and energy in a cause that felt meaningful. Active in the community as an actor and volunteer with Clear Space Theatre in Rehoboth Beach, Wisely looks forward to introducing her existing network to CBH’s mission to serve under-resourced children with communicative disabilities.
“After 15 years here, there’s going to be a lot of overlap between CBH constituents and the people I was already working with in the community. Now I get to connect with them in a new capacity,” she said.
