Milton Arts Guild will present “Finding Beauty in Simplicity: A Photographic Journal of an Isolated Himalayan Culture,” with Paul Lenz, international photographer, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, at the MAG gallery, 107 Federal St., Milton. The talk is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. The talk has been rescheduled from a prior date.
Lenz will chronicle his journey to Ladakh, India, to document the culture of one of the most isolated communities in the world. Ladakh sits at the northwest corner of India, near the country’s borders with Tibet, Nepal and Afghanistan. The community consists of multiple generations of just 200 families, and it is a five-day trek from the nearest road.
The images from Lenz’s stay in Ladakh capture the beauty and simplicity of the remote culture.
A retired physician who dedicated most of his life to healthcare, Lenz has always returned to the art of photography, particularly when he can illuminate different geography and cultures. “In my travels to many distant corners of the world, I try to identify unusual and through-provoking aspects of the natural subject I am depicting,” he said.
The presentation is part of the guild’s MAG Talks series, which highlights various aspects of the creation, curation and business of art.
