Jeanne Doris Fussell Kehrer, successful banking career

September 4, 2025

Jeanne Doris Fussell Kehrer, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, in Lewes. She was born in Camden, N.J., Sept. 11, 1931, daughter of the late Howard and Irene Fussell, and was raised in the Mt. Ephraim, N.J. area.

Jeanne was a graduate of Audubon High School, and there she met the love of her life, Paul Kehrer, who passed in 2022. She went on to attend Goldey-Beacom College, where she studied accounting, which led her to a very long and successful career in banking. She made a point of imparting this financial knowledge to her children at a young age, an effort for which they are immensely grateful.

She and her husband raised three children to whom they were devoted in every way. Whether it be preparing a wonderful meal for the family, sharing in the celebration of family traditions, sewing her children’s clothes, or tending to her beloved African violets, Jeanne was always busy. She was a talented needleworker, excelling in several media. She always found her talents to be a labor of love for those around her by gifting her creations to everyone in her family. She enjoyed the beach and looked forward to their time at the family cottage in Wildwood, N.J.

After retiring to the Delaware beach area, she and Paul developed many new friendships, most of whom they met at Conley’s United Methodist Church, where they attended for many years. Family, faith, and friends permitted her to enjoy the quiet joys of home and tradition. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Kenneth Kehrer (Theresa), Keith Kehrer (Laura), and Cheryl Bailey (Brian). She was a proud grandmother to Erika Potts, Brian Kehrer, Jordan Kehrer, Grant Kehrer, Kara Granger, Michael Granger and Zachary Bailey, and a loving great-grandmother to Logan Potts, Arya Kehrer, Ian Kehrer, Lyla Kehrer and Lyra Kehrer. She is also survived by her nephew, Bruce Blades (Lisa); her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John Kehrer (Dale), their children; and many other relatives and dear friends.

The Kehrer family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Moorings at Lewes for the compassionate care they provided Jeanne in her final years.

A chapel committal will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, curealz.org, would be appreciated.
