Mabel V. Kimmey, cherished mother, grandmother

September 5, 2025

Mabel V. Kimmey, 89, of Myerstown, Pa., passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, in Stone Ridge Poplar Run. She was the wife of the late Erwin L. Kimmey.  Mabel was born in Canoe Creek, Blair County, Nov. 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Harry and Defie Gallimore Sine.

She had been employed by the VA Medical Center for many years. Mabel loved to sew, having made many of her own clothes. She enjoyed crocheting, and she went camping for many years with her husband, Erwin. They maintained a camper at Rehoboth Beach for a long time. It is the place where she could always be counted on to have waffles waiting for her grandchildren when they arrived for the weekend.  She also enjoyed being a mother to several Himalayan cats. Mabel was happiest when tending to her family as a wife, mother, but most of all, a grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Brian and wife Robin Anne Kimmey of Myerstown, Pa., Keith and wife Susan of Manchester, N.H.; grandsons, Christopher Kimmey and wife Mayu of Iwakuni, Japan, and Michael Kimmey and wife Shanna of Philadelphia, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Lilian Otoha and Charles Yuto; sisters, Peggy Scaboo of Ocean Isle, N.C., and Nancy Torres, Converse, Texas. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Shirley Stevens and Katherine Schrader.

Private interment will be made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
