Two die in three-vehicle crash near Georgetown

Two men died Oct. 5 following a three-vehicle crash near Georgetown.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. when a Hyundai Sonata driven by a 57-year-old New Jersey woman had stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of West Robbins Road and Redden Road. As her vehicle entered the intersection, it collided with a Volkswagen Tiguan that was traveling westbound on Redden Road, police said.

The impact caused the Volkswagen to overturn several times and roll onto a Toyota Corolla that was heading east on Redden Road.

The driver of the Toyota, an unidentified man, and a passenger, a 31-year-old Georgetown man, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are being withheld until family is notified.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 70-year-old Ocean View man, and a passenger, a 59-year-old Ocean View woman, were taken to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a woman from Bloomfield, N.J., was not injured.

The roadway was closed for about three-and-a-half hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
