Paul Chester Boyer, state retiree

Paul Chester Boyer, aka Chet, Goob, and Papa, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at Excelcare in Lewes Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025.

Paul was born in Muncy Valley, Pa., to the late Paul F. and Kattie P. (Puderbaugh) Boyer.

He retired from the State of Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, where he had worked for many years in IT administration.

Paul enjoyed a good baseball game and was a huge NY Yankee fan. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing, crabbing, and sailing. Paul also loved a good meal! One of his favorites was a hot dog with raw onions and a Pepsi.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria (Gilbert) Boyer, in 2017.

Paul is survived by two children, Beth Ann Glasstetter (Dan) and Peter A. Boyer (Kelly); and two granddaughters, Katie Boyer and Jody Boyer.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at Nicola Pizza, 17323 Ocean One Plaza, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PAWS for People, a nonprofit organization committed to providing therapeutic visits to anyone in the community who would benefit from interaction with a well-trained, loving pet. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Services in Milton.
