Sen. Russ Huxtable, D-Lewes, has joined lawmakers from Delaware and other states as part of a PJM State Legislator Collaborative.
The group was formed to address PJM Interconnection – the regional grid operator – on electricity rates and energy reliability stemming from large-load additions such as data centers.
Officials said PJM is considering a number of proposals this month regarding data centers’ energy usage, and the power grid operator has several ongoing processes that would affect whether large-load additions pay their full costs and impact reliable service for existing customers.
Proposals submitted by the PJM State Legislator Collaborative will be considered Wednesday, Nov. 19, by PJM voting members.
Pepco Holdings, the parent company for Delmarva Power, is a PJM voting member. Voting members are entities that can participate in the competitive wholesale electricity market.
