DRBA summer internship applications due Feb. 17

January 19, 2026

Delaware River & Bay Authority has opened the application for its summer internship program, which provides university and college students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional work environment.

Encompassing a 10-week commitment during summer 2026, the internship comprises on-the-job experience, project and leadership development, involvement with senior leaders and cross-functional team experiences.

“We’re excited to offer this innovative program again this year,” said Joel V. Coppadge, DRBA executive director. “Prospective candidates will be challenged with practical assignments and specific projects in several areas of interest. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about a prospective career path while working and contributing to such a unique organization.”

“Our internship program not only provides that up-and-coming professional with an important addition to the résumé,” said Coppadge. “It also provides insight into whether that particular career is something the individual wants to pursue.”

Coppadge noted that participants will work on practical assignments and specific projects in their chosen career field. Since the program started in 2012, more than 80 students from Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other states have successfully completed internships at the bi-state agency.

Internships are available in the following departments: airports, communications/public relations, executive administration, hospitality/food and retail, human resources, ITS/networking, social media/marketing, maintenance facilities and police..

Prospective candidates must submit their applications and résumés at drba.net no later than Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The internship program will begin Monday, June 1, and end Friday, Aug. 7. The authority’s paid internship offers undergraduate students $16 per hour. Graduate program students are paid $18 per hour for a 40-hour workweek.
