Sandra L. Purdy, beloved wife, mother

Sandra L. Purdy, 69, of Lewes, passed away suddenly Friday Feb. 6, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Oct. 23, 1956, in Milford, daughter of the late James and Cecelia Hudson. Sandi, as many knew her by, lived in Lewes. She was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, and she had also attended Wesley College in Dover, where she studied music.

Sandi had the innate ability to play several different instruments and spent many hours as well enjoying music. Often, she could be found gardening, working with arts and crafts, cooking, baking, and bird-watching. In her early years, she enjoyed horseback riding and trying her skills at barrel racing. Most of all she enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends.

She is survived by the love of her life, Forrest “Stan” Purdy; four daughters, Karen Bailey, Alicia Purdy, Heather Purdy, and Amanda Purdy; three grandsons, Stanley Purdy, Austin Bailey and Luke Riley; five granddaughters, Katlyn Bailey, Samantha Anderson, Remi Bailey, Alyssa Newcomer and Miranda Leonard; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Kenny Hudson and Ronnie May; and her beloved dog, Squeaker, who was always by her side.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 17, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where a viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the services at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes.
