Decision delayed on Revelation Brewing move
A decision on the site plan for Revelation Craft Brewing Co.’s planned new location at the corner of Rehoboth Avenue Extended and Church Street was delayed Feb. 18, due to questions about parking.
The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission was told by the applicant’s representative that the Delaware Department of Transportation disclosed earlier in the day that it was eliminating five parking spaces.
The existing spaces along Rehoboth Avenue Extended are in the state’s right of way, said Roger Gross, an engineer with Merestone Consultants.
That leaves 14 spaces, two fewer than the required number, Gross said. A waiver may be possible, since many customers would be bicyclists and others = would walk to the brewery, he said.
A building is being renovated for the brewery, and a small structure was to be removed to create more room for parking in the rear of the property.
The building that will remain was an office building for The Waypoint Rehoboth motel, located on an adjacent property. The motel recently underwent an extensive renovation.
Revelation closed its brewery location of a decade on Central Avenue in West Rehoboth after New Year’s Eve. Owner Patrick Staggs said the brewery outgrew that site and he wanted to move it closer to the beach.
