Frantic Music Project will host a special benefit concert Sunday, April 19, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, 229 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
Headlining the event will be Vanilla Fudge, featuring original members Carmine Appice, Mark Stein and Vince Martell, with longtime bassist Pete Bremy. Having had a number of chart hits, the band is best known for its cover version of "Keep Me Hangin' On" by The Supremes.
The group’s unique style was known as psychedelic symphonic rock, combining psychedelia and hard rock, and it would later pave the way to other music genres like heavy metal. Vanilla Fudge was one of the first bands to create this eclectic sound that was most often heard on the East Coast, mainly in New York and New Jersey.
Warming up the stage for Vanilla Fudge will be the ever-popular local group Lower Case Blues.
A total of five guitars autographed by Vanilla Fudge will be raffled and auctioned at the event to raise funds for the Frantic Music Project.
