Cape district presents GEM awards for Rehoboth Elementary

The Cape Henlopen School District recently presented Going the Extra Mile awards to two Rehoboth Elementary School team members.
Honorees Steven Adamson and Amanda Mullins each demonstrate exceptional dedication, compassion and service to their school community every day.
Upon joining Rehoboth Elementary as a school psychologist, Adamson made an immediate and lasting impact through his ability to build strong, meaningful relationships and his unwavering advocacy for student success. Known for his proactive approach, Adamson consistently anticipates challenges and implements thoughtful, innovative strategies grounded in data-driven decision-making. His calm and steady presence during difficult situations provides reassurance and clarity, ensuring that student safety and mental health remain top priorities.
“Mr. Adamson is truly an anchor for our school community,” said Kevin Monaghan, assistant principal. “His compassion, professionalism and commitment to doing what is best for students make him an invaluable member of our team.”
Since joining the school three years ago as a long-term substitute, Mullins has continued to serve in a wide variety of roles across all grade levels.
Her flexibility, positivity and dedication have made her an essential part of the Rehoboth Elementary community. Whether teaching in the classroom or supporting students as a paraprofessional, Mullins consistently steps in wherever she is needed most. Her strong rapport with students is built on mutual respect and care, and her commitment extends beyond the classroom through her weekly mentorship with the school’s Kindness Empowers group.
“Ms. Mullins embodies the true spirit of going the extra mile,” said Dr. Doris Person, RES principal. “Her willingness to help in any capacity and her genuine care for students make a lasting difference in our school each day.”
