A 17-year-old boy faces robbery and weapon charges after police say he stole $500 from another teen at Park Royal Apartments May 2.

Police responded to the apartments at noon for a report of an armed robbery. Police learned the teenager used a handgun to rob another teen male, police said.

After taking $500, police said, the teen fled the scene on foot. He was found in a nearby residence with help from the Delaware State Police and the Dewey Beach Police Department K-9 unit. The teen, whose identity is being withheld, was arrested and formally charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, aggravated menacing and other weapon charges.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $48,501 cash bond.
