Robert Walter Lawson, 92, of Millsboro, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

He was born July 4, 1921, in Millsboro to the late Harvey and Blanche Phillips Lawson. He had one brother: Norman; and three sisters: Irene, Anna, and Doris, all of whom have preceded him.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Goldey-Beacom College with a degree in business. He married his wife, Betty J. White, who survives him, in 1951 in Wilmington. Together they raised three children. He owned and operated Lawson’s Oil Service, and was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church. He was also formerly a member of American Legion Post 28, the Lions Club, and the Elks. He liked gardening, and most of all was devoted to his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Robert Lawson Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Millsboro, Keith Lawson of Frankford and Craig Lawson, also of Millsboro. He has five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A private ceremony will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Wilkins officiating, and the conferring of military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriot Drive, Milford, DE 19963.
