Marybelle Toomey, health care aid

Mrs. Marybelle Toomey, 69, of Georgetown, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

Mrs. Toomey was born Sept. 22, 1944, to the late James and Elaine Raddish Cowen.

She retired from the State of Delaware where she worked as a health care aid at the Stockley Center. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Laurel. She enjoyed reading and camping. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James M. Toomey; a daughter, Lora Hitchens and her husband Raymond; a brother, Jay Cowen;  and a sister Shirley Class and her husband Steve; five grandchildren, Raymond, Angela, Christopher, Andrew and Lora Jean, all of Georgetown. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Dagsboro Redmen's Memorial Cemetery.
