Richard Bryan launches independent Delaware Realty firm

August 9, 2010

Richard Bryan hoisted a new flag over his Lewes real estate office Sunday, Aug. 1. After a 20-year run with the national RE/MAX franchise, he decided to take his brokerage in an independent direction under the name of Delaware Realty.

“I acquired the Delaware Realty name and business from Charles Howard a while back and decided to adopt it for this new venture,” said Bryan. “The Lewes location is a niche market and we feel that an independent, local real estate agency is the way to go. It’s been good being associated with a national firm, but we just decided that it’s time to go in a new direction – a little less of the corporate world and a little more local. We’re a service-oriented industry, and we want to serve the public in our Lewes market.”

Auction Service
In addition to traditional real estate services, Dick Bryan offers auction services in the areas of residential and commercial real estate.

Bryan said his firm also has residential and commercial listings throughout Sussex County and in Kent County. Delaware Realty is a member of the Kent and Sussex boards of Realtors.

Bryan put up new signs over Delaware Realty’s offices in the Bastian Building on Savannah Road in downtown Lewes. Agents associated with the new firm also went about replacing former signs on their listings with the new Delaware Realty signs. A University of Delaware graduate and die-hard Delaware fan, Bryan feels good about adopting his native state’s blue and yellow colors for his new operation.

“Those are familiar colors for people in this area. We’re keeping our phone number the same – 645-6100 – and our address. And people will certainly recognize our agents as people who know the area and have been dealing in real estate here for a long time. We also plan to continue in our familiar advertising position on the back page of the Cape Gazette.”

Bryan said the new direction will allow Delaware Realty to put more of its resources into areas such as the internet, which is being used more and more by people searching for homes and properties. The broker recently added auctioneering services to his offerings after taking a course in Nashville, Tenn., last spring.

“The world is changing, the market is changing, and we have to change along with it,” said Bryan.
