High school vocal student scholarship audition applications due April 13

March 29, 2015

The Southern Delaware Chorale announces auditions will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 25, in Georgetown, for the Lee Mitchell Scholarship for high school vocal students. The program is made possible by an endowment from the family of the late Lee Mitchell, internationally renowned pianist and composer.

The scholarship includes private voice lessons with the teacher of choice up to $1,000 value, and participation in the Southern Delaware Chorale's 2015-16 season. It also includes membership dues in the SDC, concert attire for the concert events and music. It presents an opportunity for an aspiring singer to gain training and experience.

The auditions will take place at Georgetown Presbyterian Church Hall. A piano accompanist will be provided. The student must currently be a sophomore or junior in high school and express an interest in taking singing lessons and participating in the Southern Delaware Chorale for the 2015-16 season.

Applications for the audition are due to the chorale by April 13 and can be obtained from one of the Sussex County high school choral music directors or by sending an email to southerndelawarechorale@gmail.com. All applicants will be contacted by phone or email to confirm the audition location, date and time.

The Southern Delaware Chorale is a nonprofit organization which promotes choral music in Southern Delaware by bringing together local singers of all ages who share a mutual love of good music and by presenting such music to the general public at winter and spring concerts. The members rehearse on Tuesday evenings at Georgetown Presbyterian Church during the school year.
