May 24, 2015

Local artist Winona B. Dougherty has a showing of her art now through Saturday, June 27, at The Buttery Restaurant on Second Street in Lewes.

The exhibit features watercolors of floral arrangements, landscapes, water scenes and local places.

Winona, or Bonnie, as she is known, is a native of Lewes, but had moved to Wilmington for her senior year at AI Dupont High School. She lived in the Wilmington area for the next 40 years before coming back to Lewes in 1994. It was at this time that she joined the Cape Artists, the Rehoboth Art League and the Ocean City Art League. She has painted with Howard Schroeder and Jack Lewis and with many other prominent artists.

She has also exhibited her paintings at Delaware Technical Community College, The Children’s Beach House, St. Peter’s Sidewalk Sale, the Lewes Garden Tour and various local restaurants and schools. In addition, her paintings are included in private collections in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

There was a reception at The Buttery May 17, where her work will be on display for several weeks.

The public is welcome to view her work afternoons between 2:30 and 5 p.m.
