Marshall wins doubles championship

Dr. David Marshall of Lewes and Oren Motevassel of San Jose, Calif., won the National Clay Court Championship for Men's Over 45 Doubles held at Belle Haven Country Club. Marshall and Motevassel defeated Mario Tabares of Miami and Dr. Joesph Kim of Milwaukee, Wis., by the score 7-5, 6-1.

Marshall and Motevassel won four matches in the tournament without the loss of a set. Earlier in the year, they placed third in the National Grass Court Championships in Philadelphia.

Marshall is currently ranked third in the United States in Men's Over 45 Doubles, while Motevassel is ranked fourth. Kim is ranked fifth and Tabbares is ranked eighth.

Marshall is the owner of the Dave Marshall Tennis and Fitness Center in Lewes as well as the director of tennis at Bayside Resort in Fenwick Island and the head women's tennis coach at Delaware State University.

Tabares was a former Top 50 ATP Professional and now owns his own tennis speciality shop in Miami. Motevassel is a former Top 100 ATP Professional who travels the Senior Circuit. Kim is a surgeon in Wisconsin and played collegiate tennis at the University of Michigan.
