Paul M. Kirlan, real estate broker

Paul M. Kirlan, 77, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born Saturday, Feb. 19, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Ira and Lillian (Belchick) Kirlan.

Paul graduated from James Madison High School in Brookyln, and continued his education at Arizona State, where he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He started working at Ingersoll Rand in Rochester, N.Y. before moving to Wilmington and working for DuPont for several years. Paul then transitioned his career path to real estate, working as a broker for Re-Max Sunvest in Wilmington for 20-plus years until the present.

Paul was an avid gardener and wood worker. He enjoyed traveling and reading; he loved his work taking care of his clients, and most of all he loved his family. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kirlan is preceded in death by his grandson, Asher. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy Knotts-Kirlan; three sons: Michael Kirlan and his wife, Holly of Colorado, Cory Kirlan and his wife, Patrice of Colorado, and Brian Knotts and his wife, Jennifer of Blue Bell, Pa.; two daughters: Lisa Brown and her husband Robert of Indianapolis, Ind. and Amy Knotts Truitt and her husband Robert of Lewes; 11 grandchildren: Jim, Zachery, Megan, Courtney, Leah, Carly, Jacob, Sydney, Mia, Taryn and Holden; and two great-grandchildren: Piper and Ellie.

Hebrew Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment was private.
