Epworth UMC sets Grass is Always Greener Concert March 12

February 6, 2016

Epworth United Methodist Church announces an encore performance of its concert, The Grass is Always Greener, set for 7 p.m., Saturday, March 12.

The concert will feature vocalists Liane Hansen and Carolyn Robinson, with Doug Yetter appearing as collaborative artist. Hansen and Robinson will perform selections from the music of Kander and Ebb, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerry Herman, Jerome Kern, Stephen Sondheim and Giacomo Puccini.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit Epworth’s Keep Our Children Warm fund. The fund was established to cover unexpected replacement and maintenance expenses in the heating units of the church’s educational wing.

Hansen was the host of NPR’s "Weekend Edition Sunday" before moving to Bethany Beach in 2011. She also has performed with many local theater companies, usually in a bathrobe and/or wheelchair. Hansen is a founding board member of Delaware Public Media and WDDE in Dover. She is also on the board of the National Music Festival in Chestertown, Md., where she will narrate "Tubby the Tuba" this summer.

Robinson, a classically trained soprano, received her bachelor of music degree from the University of Arizona and trained with renowned soprano Lotte Lehmann at the Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Calif. She has sung with opera companies in the U.S. and abroad.  Robinson also has performed with Clear Space Theatre, the Bethany Area Repertory Theater, The Brandywiners, Casa Madrid Dinner Theater, Opera Delaware, Lancaster Opera, and as soloist with the Ventura and Lancaster symphonies.

Doug Yetter is Epworth’s director of Music Ministries and organist; he also serves as the conductor, musical director and artistic director of the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus. A co-founder and artistic director emeritus of Clear Space Theatre Co., Yetter is an accomplished composer, director and performer.

Epworth UMC is at 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. For more information, call 302-227-7743 or go to www.eumcrb.org.
