The Boy and the Heron is the new critically acclaimed Anime fantasy adventure from the legendary Director Hayao Miyazaki with Studio Ghibli, creators of Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and My Neighbor Totoro. Hayao Miyazaki’s first feature film in 10 years and reportedly his final, is a hand-drawn original story written and directed by the Academy Award®️-winning director. The film features a musical score from Miyazaki’s long-time collaborator Joe Hisaishi. American actors who voice various characters include Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, William Dafoe and Mark Hamill. The theme song for the film Spinning Globe was penned and performed by global J-pop superstar Kenshi Yonezu.

About the film:

While the Second World War rages, the teenage Mahito, haunted by his mother’s tragic death, is relocated from Tokyo to the serene rural home of his new stepmother Natsuko, a woman who bears a striking resemblance to the boy’s mother. As he tries to adjust, this strange new world grows even stranger following the appearance of a persistent gray heron, who perplexes and bedevils Mahito, dubbing him the “long-awaited one.” Nominated for a Golden Globe Award - Best Movie - Animated.
