Beebe Healthcare has listed for sale a 16.5-acre parcel that stretches from Savannah Road to Kings Highway.
The property, listed for $5.1 million with Jack Lingo Realtor, falls within Lewes city limits and is zoned R-2, residential low density.
Christina Deidesheimer, Beebe’s director of marketing and communications, said use of the land was not included in the recently announced $180 million expansion plan.
“In conjunction with our decision to add a new patient wing on the existing Lewes campus, construct a new specialty surgery hospital at our Rehoboth Beach campus, and develop a new ‘South Coastal Campus’ in Millville, building on the Warrington Farm property is no longer a part of Beebe’s long-term strategic plan; therefore, the Board has approved the sale of the land,” she said in a statement.
A developer seeking to build on an R-2-zoned property must have minimum lot sizes of 10,000 square feet, just under a quarter acre. Neighboring the Beebe parcel is Henlopen Gardens, with a section zoned R-2 and another zoned R-5, mixed residential.
An island of county-zoned land – nearly 30 acres – separates the Beebe property from the rest of the city.
