Best Nest opens in Rehoboth Beach

As winter leads into spring, homeowners are preparing their summer houses in Rehoboth Beach for fun, sand and surf.

To make sure beach homes look as good on the inside as on the outside is Best Nest Home Furnishings, a source for rugs, furniture, art and accessories.

Best Nest marks a return to the Cape Region for owners John Selway and Nikki Schroeder. Selway had previously owned C&E Furniture in Selbyville, while Schroeder worked in interior design. In 2006, they opened Best Nest in Cape Charles, Va., on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. In October, they decided to close the original Best Nest and move back to the Ocean View area to be around their two new grandchildren.

In January, they opened the new Best Nest at 403 Rehoboth Ave. The store is a former home, and Selway and Schroeder have turned the driveway into extra parking for those who cannot find spots along Rehoboth Avenue.

“We thought this was a great location. This is a beautiful building. This is what we’ve always done,” Schroeder said.

Schroeder said Best Nest is a full-service furniture store, specializing in coastal cottage-style interiors.

“Lots of color and whimsy,” she said. “We specialize in beach houses. This seemed like the perfect location.”

Schroeder said Best Nest plans to be moderately priced compared to other home furnishing stores in order to accommodate average people without millions of dollars to spend.

“Moderately priced but beautiful, good-quality furniture,” she said.

“It’s exciting because I think we’re going to fill a small niche in Rehoboth with our price level,” Selway said.
