Bindlestiff Family Cirkus to kick off Freeman Stage season May 27

May 23, 2017

The Freeman Stage at Bayside will kick off its 10th season with a free performance by Bindlestiff Family Cirkus at 7 p.m., Saturday, May 27.

Since 1995, the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus has traveled the world, bringing its unique hybrid of vaudeville, circus, burlesque and sideshow to audiences of all ages. An evening of jugglers, aerialists, acrobats, contortionists, unicycles, plate spinning, sword swallowing, brain twisters and other risk-taking feats, set to live music, combine to create an interactive evening of fun for the entire family. This performance is free to attend and is a bring-your-own-chair event.

More than 7,000 local students attended performances of the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus earlier in the week as part of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation's arts in education program.

"As we enter into our 10th season, we are proud to continue to be a vessel for the arts and present memorable experiences for the community at The Freeman Stage at Bayside," said Patti Grimes, executive director of the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation. "The three days of performances for area schoolchildren are such special days, especially since many of these children will be experiencing a live arts performance for the first time, and are really at the heart of our mission - to provide inspired arts education for all."

Regular weekly events will continue Friday, June 16, with a performance by the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra with Opera Delaware. For more information, call 302-436-3015 or go to freemanstage.org.
