Bonnie K. Donaway Harris, owned Millsboro Shell Station

Mrs. Bonnie K. Donaway Harris, 67, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017.

Mrs. Harris was born in Millsboro, Feb. 12, 1950, to the late James and Beatrice Mitchell Layfield. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, James Harris Sr.

Bonnie was retired from the State of Delaware where she worked as a clerk for the Justice of the Peace. She was a 1968 graduate of Millsboro High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Bonnie attended college at West Los Angeles Community College and Delaware Tech Community College. She also worked at DP&L, owned and operated the Millsboro Shell Station, and also worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for Hudson's Garage.

She is survived by her son, Jamie B. Donaway and his wife Mandy of Millsboro; two sisters, Shirley Long (Armon) and Donna Sinnamon and two brothers, James Layfield (Chris) and David Layfield (Mary), all of Millsboro. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Mya and Dax Donaway, Jacob, Madelyn and Josh Dempsey, as well as a lifelong friend who was more like a sister, Sue Fritz. Bonnie is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Millsboro Town Center, 322 Wilson Hwy., Millsboro, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. for visitation. Burial will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Good Ole Boy Foundation, 36111 Pear Tree Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
