CHEER invites law enforcement personnel to lunch Sept. 12-18

August 31, 2016

During National Senior Center Month in September, CHEER Inc. is reaching out to local law enforcement in Sussex County by honoring them and showing them the support of their communities. CHEER will be hosting Law Enforcement Week Monday, Sept. 12 to Sunday, Sept. 18. All law enforcement groups are invited to visit a local CHEER activity center and have lunch on CHEER. Blue Plate Specials will be offered that week in their honor.

"We want them to come and hear, see, and experience the tremendous support for them that is found in the local community. Invitations were sent to all town, city, county and state law enforcement departments to have lunch on CHEER," said Florence Mason, CHEER nutrition director.

"CHEER and our members are grateful to all the men and women of our local law enforcement who protect and serve each of us daily. They willingly respond in our times of trouble and place themselves between us and danger. Their lunch on us is a small token of our appreciation for all that our brothers and sisters in blue do for us," said Ken Bock, CHEER executive director.

CHEER activity centers are in Greenwood, Milton, Lewes, Georgetown, Long Neck, Ocean View and Roxana. Lunch is served between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to come in during that week and show their gratitude for all the first responders do in protecting and keeping communities safe.
