Stage holds 35,000 gallons of water
July 22, 2016

The magical world of Cirque Italia sets a show like no other. The first traveling water circus in the United States will perform at the Dover Mall at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12; 2:30, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13; and 2:30 and 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 14.

The extraordinary stage holds 35,000 gallons of water and features a dynamic lid which lifts 35 feet into the air, allowing water to fall like rain from above as fountains dazzle below. This incredible show takes place under the majestic white and blue big top tent from Italy.

Show owner and founder Manuel Rebecchi has a deep-seated history in the circus industry. His late aunt Moira Orfei ran one of the largest circus shows in Europe. When Rebecchi came to the states several years ago, he decided that Americans needed to experience a European-style show. He wanted to create something special and memorable and was actually inspired to create the water stage while drinking a bottle of water. Rebecchi knew he would need someone with great talent and vision to make his idea work, so he brought in Chanté DeMoustes, COO and producer, to help make his dreams a reality. The cirque variety show features performers from around the world and is completely animal-free.

There is a contortionist who is able to bend her body in ways one would never imagine. The Italian singer stacks chair upon chair and then balances on top of them on his hands. Crazy clown Alex plunges off the diving board during his acrobatic trampoline excursion. Audience members may get splashed during a jet ski act. Aerial divas will fly high in the sky like beautifully colored birds of paradise. The show's laserman will be cause all kinds of explosions with his laser guns, maybe to scare away the large dinosaur that invades the show. There will be all this, plus thrilling high-wire feats, twin juggling maniacs, elegant chiffons and more. Audience members will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a picture with a mermaid.

Ticket prices range from $10 to $50. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.cirqueitalia.com.
